FO rejects India’s baseless claims on status of IIOJK

Pakistan firmly rejects India's claims regarding the status of Jammu and Kashmir, asserting that India's unilateral actions and ongoing illegal occupation cannot change its internationally recognized disputed status. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson, Ambassador Sajjad Haider Khan, made this statement while addressing media inquiries about India's assertion on the disputed region's map.

He emphasized that official United Nations maps, which classify Jammu and Kashmir as a disputed territory, represent the sole legitimate cartographic depiction of its current legal status. Khan stressed that India's unilateral claims and self-proclaimed sovereignty hold no validity in determining the dispute's status. He further highlighted that Pakistan categorically rejects India's baseless assertions, which contradict internationally recognized facts.

The spokesperson pointed out that the Jammu and Kashmir dispute remains one of the longest-standing, internationally recognized disputes on the United Nations Security Council's agenda. UN resolutions stipulate that the ultimate resolution must be reached in accordance with relevant Security Council resolutions and the expressed will of the Kashmiri people through a free and impartial plebiscite under UN supervision.

Pakistan urges the global community to ensure an immediate cessation of human rights violations in the Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir and for India to fulfill its commitment to the self-determination of the Kashmiri people, as mandated by the relevant UNSC resolutions.
