Elon Musk branded ‘chaotic, random, capricious, manifestly cruel and selfish’ in teaser trailer for Musk documentary that looks more explosive than a SpaceX rocket

A new teaser trailer for the upcoming Musk documentary has emerged, revealing a tumultuous and provocative portrayal of the tech mogul. The 48-second clip juxtaposes laudatory remarks about Musk as "the real-life Iron Man" and "the greatest capitalist in history" with more critical assessments, including one that posits he would not be a hero in a science fiction novel.

Directed by Academy Award-winning Alex Gibney, the film has been in development for over three years, with Gibney commencing work in March 2023. Despite Musk's displeasure, expressed on X, Gibney maintains that the documentary is far from a hit piece. He asserts that Musk's true genius lies in his prowess as an investor rather than as an inventor.

The trailer hints at a runtime of nearly four hours, a figure Musk himself mocked on X by questioning whether the filmmaker seeks to "bore people to death." The documentary delves into Musk's complex relationship with former President Trump, and Gibney reveals that many of Musk's associates were too intimidated to speak openly about him.

The film is set to premiere in theaters on October 16 and will subsequently stream on HBO Max later this year.
