Education Ministry to digitise SHS placement complaints system
The Ministry of Education has said it was going to digitise the senior high school placement complaints process from 2027 to help reduce the need for parents and candidates to visit physical resolution centres.
The Ghana Education Ministry plans to modernise its senior high school (SHS) placement complaints system by 2027, according to a statement from the Ministry. The aim is to minimise the need for parents and candidates to physically visit resolution centres. The proposed digital platform will enable them to file and resolve complaints via the CSSPS portal.
This comes after congestion at various resolution centres, including the National Resolution Centre in Accra, where many parents and candidates have gathered recently. Hashmin Mohammed, the Press Secretary and Spokesperson for the Ministry, confirmed this during a radio interview. He stated that the Ministry will review the placement process after the 2026 exercise, using feedback from parents and candidates to identify improvements.
The issue of capacity at physical centres will be part of this review, which may lead to the adoption of an online complaints system. Mohammed also hinted that additional resolution centres might be set up in the Greater Accra Region if necessary, though no specific timeline has been set for such expansions during the current placement exercise.
Sherif Sulemana, the Coordinator of the CSSPS, informed that the Secretariat would start processing re-entry candidates from Monday. These are individuals who were placed in schools during last year’s exercise but were unable to enrol. The process provides these candidates another opportunity to secure a placement and access secondary education this year.
The CSSPS self-placement portal was launched on Sunday, allowing those who were not initially matched with a school to choose from institutions with available vacancies.
