Dutch flying car finally cleared for take-off by 2028

Dutch flying car manufacturer PAL-V has received approval from the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) to begin production of its innovative vehicle, set to be ready for launch in 2028. The company, based in Noord-Brabant, has been working on flying car designs for 20 years. CEO Robert Dingemanse expressed excitement about the new development, stating, "Now that EASA approval is in, we will really start producing the first cars soon."

However, the Liberty model, which features a folding rotor blade to facilitate road driving, faces significant obstacles before it can reach the average Dutch citizen. The vehicle must comply with aviation regulations and can only take off and land at certain airstrips in the Netherlands, limiting its accessibility. Aviation experts argue that the Netherlands already boasts an efficient road network, making the flying car unnecessary for most residents.

Despite these challenges, the first 250 units of the Liberty have already been sold, primarily to fire brigades, police forces, and the military, with a few private wealthy owners.
