Christian Council commends GoldBod on responsible gold management

The Christian Council of Ghana has lauded the Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod) for its commitment to transparency, responsible gold trading, and environmental sustainability in managing the nation's mineral resources. During a visit by a delegation led by Director of Programmes and Advocacy Dr Joyce Laco Steiner, the council expressed gratitude for GoldBod's efforts to ensure the integrity and accountability of Ghana's natural endowment for the benefit of all future generations.

Steiner emphasized the importance of collaboration among stakeholders to harness the mineral wealth for sustainable development.

GoldBod's CEO, Sammy Gyamfi, detailed the organization's mandate under the Ghana Gold Board Act, 2025 (Act 1140), highlighting its role in generating foreign exchange and maintaining macroeconomic stability. He also announced several initiatives by GoldBod, such as expanding local gold refining and jewelry production, establishing an international-standard fire assay laboratory, conducting land reclamation, and rehabilitating water systems impacted by mining activities.

The meeting provided a platform for both entities to discuss responsible mineral resource management and reaffirmed their shared dedication to transparency, environmental stewardship, and sustainable national development.
