CAF C/L: Medeama stunned by late TP Mazembe first-leg win

In the first leg of the CAF Champions League (C/L) First Preliminary Round tie at the TnA Stadium in Tarkwa, Medeama SC faced TP Mazembe and lost 1-0. The Ghanaian champions put up a spirited performance against the Congolese giants and seemed to be on track for a valuable result heading into the return leg. However, a late goal from substitute Lise Ntumba Nyembo proved to be the difference-maker, giving TP Mazembe a narrow advantage ahead of the second leg in Lubumbashi.

TP Mazembe created their first significant opportunity in the 33rd minute when Chadrack Bingi-Belo headed a free-kick, but Medeama goalkeeper Felix Kyei made a save. Medeama responded strongly and had a strong chance to score in the 44th minute when Dominic Amponsah was in a good position, but TP Mazembe's Marc Diouf made a fine save.

Just before halftime, Kyei made another crucial stop, denying Josue Kazema. Medeama's best chance in the second half came in the 64th minute when Emmanuel Annor fired an effort, but Diouf made another important save. With the score tied, TP Mazembe scored the decisive goal only three minutes from the end of normal time, leaving Medeama to secure a win on the road in Lubumbashi.
