Bruins lock up young center Fraser Minten with a 7-year, $50.4 million extension

Boston Bruins have extended their contract with young center Fraser Minten for seven years, with a total payment of $50.4 million. The agreement, signed on Tuesday, grants Minten a cap hit of $7.2 million per season and ensures he remains with the team as he develops into a star player. The 22-year-old, who was a second-round draft pick of Toronto in 2022, joined the Bruins in March 2025 as part of a trade sending Brandon Carlo to the Maple Leafs.

Minten will earn a base salary of $850,000 in the final year of his rookie deal. Bruins general manager Don Sweeney praised Minten's growth, highlighting his hockey sense, competitiveness, responsible two-way game, and offensive improvement. Last season, Minten played in all 82 games, scoring 17 goals and 18 assists, with his 17 goals ranking fifth on the team.

His 35 points were the highest total for a Bruins rookie since the 2017-18 season. This extension also strengthens the Bruins' youth by supporting established franchise players David Pastrnak and Charlie McAvoy.
