Brennan follows Van Aert’s lead to sprint to his 4th stage win at Vuelta. Mas retains red jersey

Matthew Brennan, a 21-year-old British rider, claimed his fourth stage win at the Spanish Vuelta on Tuesday, solidifying his reputation as the standout sprinter in the race. The victory came in his Grand Tour debut, as he was assisted to the front by Wout van Aert, his teammate at Visma-Lease a Bike, who also secured two stage wins during the event.

Brennan crossed the finish line with an impressive display, having been delivered to the lead with 100 meters remaining. He raised his right hand with four fingers out in a victory salute. Second place was claimed by Bryan Coquard, followed by Vito Braet in third. Van Aert himself finished sixth in the stage.

Throughout the 16 stages thus far, overall leader Enric Mas maintained his advantage in the red jersey, leading Felix Gall by 2 minutes, 6 seconds. Primož Roglič lagged behind in third place by 4 seconds. The next stage, scheduled for Wednesday, will again be a flat ride into Seville before a crucial 32.5-kilometer (20.2-mile) time trial on Thursday, which could prove pivotal for Roglič's pursuit of the overall victory.
