Boeing’s August jet deliveries slip as Dreamliner handovers decline

Boeing reported a slight decline in August deliveries, with only 51 jets shipped compared to 57 in the previous month and a decrease from 57 a year ago. The American aircraft manufacturer specifically delivered only four 787 Dreamliners, a drop from nine in the same period last year. The spokesperson for Boeing attributed the decline in deliveries to no production, supply chain, or certification issues.

Despite the drop in 787 deliveries, the company still anticipates a total of 90 to 100 of these wide-body jets to be delivered by the end of the year. Boeing remains focused on increasing the output of this profitable aircraft as it strives for financial recovery.

In comparison, European rival Airbus delivered 57 jets and booked 67 orders in August. August deliveries for Boeing included 41 737 MAX planes, the company's best-selling jet, which were distributed to various airlines such as Southwest Airlines, United Airlines, and AerCap. Throughout August, Boeing delivered a total of 418 aircraft, marking the highest number since 2018 when 481 jets were delivered through the first eight months of the year.

Boeing also booked 15 new orders in August, including two 737 MAX and 13 787 jets, all for unidentified customers. There were no cancellations reported in the month. Through August, Boeing has booked 453 orders after adjusting for cancellations in 2026.
