Bangladesh defeat UAE, set up Women’s Asia Cup clash with India

On Tuesday, Bangladesh's women's cricket team secured their spot in the semi-finals of the Women's Asia Cup 2026 by defeating the UAE by 34 runs at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. The match took place on a Tuesday. Rabeya Khan played a crucial role in the victory with her impressive bowling, claiming 3 wickets against the UAE.

The win also ensured Bangladesh would face India in the next round, while Pakistan will compete against defending champions Sri Lanka in the other semi-final match. Bangladesh had shown resilience after their earlier defeat to Sri Lanka, finishing second in Group B. India topped Group A, while Sri Lanka topped Group B. India and Bangladesh will clash in the first semi-final on Thursday, while Pakistan will face Sri Lanka on Friday.

In their chase, Bangladesh posted 103 for seven in their 20 overs, with top-scorer Sharmin Akhter contributing 38 runs off 31 balls. Captain Nigar Sultana added 23 runs from 28 deliveries. Nahida Akter provided a vital late boost, scoring 16 runs and sharing a crucial 42-run seventh-wicket partnership with Sharmin. Bangladesh's bowling attack was equally impressive, with Rabeya Khan taking three wickets and Marufa Akter finishing with two wickets for nine runs.

The UAE's standout bowler was Suraksha Kotte, who returned excellent figures of 3-11 from her four overs. Despite their efforts, the UAE's chase never gained momentum, and they were restricted to 69 for nine in their 20 overs, resulting in a comfortable 34-run loss for the team.
