Azalina gesa parti nyata pendirian rasmi RUU dana politik

Menteri Undang-undang dan Reformasi Institusi, Azalina Othman Said, has urged all registered political parties to formally state their support or opposition to the proposed Political Financing (RUU) legislation. As of now, approximately 72 parties are registered with the Registration of Associations Department (JPPM). Azalina believes that obtaining formal responses from each party will provide clear evidence of their stance, as opposed to relying on informal discussions or opinions.

She emphasizes that having written declarations from all parties will serve as proof and ensure transparency in the process.

Azalina suggests that the responses should come through official party channels, such as the Chief Secretary, Supreme Council, or Central Working Committee. The responses need to be disseminated through these official channels to strengthen the confirmation of each party's registration. Azalina is keen to know which political parties support or oppose the proposal and whether they have better alternatives in mind.

She would be surprised if a party advocating for non-violent measures does not support the RUU. When asked about the feasibility of implementing the RUU before the 2016 General Election (PRU16), Azalina stated that she is unaware of the exact timing. The proposed political financing legislation is still under review and requires consensus from all parties, as it will directly impact them.
