Antoine Semenyo leads Ghana’s three-man Champions League contingent

Ghana will be represented in the 2026/27 UEFA Champions League by three players across three different clubs. Antoine Semenyo, Rahim Ibrahim, and Kojo Peprah Oppong are all set to compete for their respective teams.

Semenyo, who plays for Manchester City, is the star of the show. The midfielder has made a strong start to the Premier League season, starting all three of City’s matches so far and contributing two assists, including the one that led to Erling Haaland’s winning goal against Coventry City. City will kick off their league-phase matches away to FC Porto.

Ibrahim plays for Slovakian champions Slovan Bratislava and has featured in every one of the club’s six matches in the Champions League this season. Bratislava will face Paris Saint-Germain away in their first league-phase fixture on September 9.

Oppong, a 22-year-old defender, will be making his Champions League debut with Turkish side Fenerbahçe. The player, who moved from Nice last summer, could start when Fenerbahçe host AS Roma on September 10. Oppong will be vying for a starting position in a defense that includes Nathan Aké and Milan Škriniar.
