Akhilesh unveils blue dress code for SP youth wing to push Bahujan plank

Akhilesh Yadav, the president of the Samajwadi Party (SP), unveiled a blue dress code for the party's student wing, Samajwadi Chhatra Sabha, on Tuesday. The president explained that the colour blue symbolises democracy, the Constitution, the Bahujan movement, fresh thinking, global citizenship, democratic values, and the Bahujan Samaj movement.

The new student uniform comprises a blue T-shirt, jeans, and a red cap. By introducing this uniform, SP aims to convey ideology and create a sense of equality among students. Yadav also announced a two-week "Chhatra Jagrukta Saptah" (student awareness week) at educational institutions, aimed at engaging with students, especially Gen Z and Gen Alpha.

The blue colour was chosen not only for its political significance but also for its social implications, as it has been associated with the Bahujan Samaj and BR Ambedkar. The SP president also criticized the BJP over its alleged criticism of the party's choice of blue and accused BJP members of stealing donations from the Ram Temple in Ayodhya.
