Aaron Judge activated from 60-day injured list by New York Yankees

The New York Yankees reinstated three-time Most Valuable Player Aaron Judge from their 60-day injured list on Monday night, according to Associated Press. Judge had been sidelined since May 31 due to a broken right rib. The Yankees were on a Monday off day and are set to commence a three-game series at home against the Colorado Rockies on Tuesday night.

Judge had visited the Yankees' facilities on their previous West Coast trip and had participated in batting practice on the field multiple times last weekend in San Diego, where he continued to work towards his return. The slugger has been part of the active roster without a minor league rehabilitation assignment. With 19 games left in the regular season, the Yankees are four games behind first-place Tampa Bay in the AL East.

They have a two-game lead over Boston for the best American League wild card spot. The team went 36-23 following Judge's last appearance on May 31 but dropped to a .227 batting average and 107 homers in the 84 games he missed. Their batting average during that time was the 29th best among all major league teams, trailing only Seattle's .225.
