A Russian drone hit a Kyiv television newsroom in broad daylight while the channel was live on air

On 8 September, a Russian drone struck the Kyiv headquarters of the television networks My-Ukraina and My-Ukraina+ during daytime broadcasting, the local channel reported. The primary impact struck the newsroom and office spaces while My-Ukraina was airing live on the national newscast. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy called for a response from Europe and the global community.

This attack is part of Russia's ongoing war strategy against journalists, which includes imprisoning them as terrorists within occupied territories, killing them with drones near the frontlines, and amassing numerous crimes against them, as documented by European bodies. The newsroom was broadcasting the national United News telethon at the time of the attack.

Rescue teams and medical personnel arrived on the scene to treat the wounded. The strike occurred in broad daylight, hours after a massive pre-dawn assault on the capital. The business district in the Solomianskyi district sustained fire and structural damage, with rescuers evacuating two individuals from the upper floors. The Ukrainian State Emergency Service reported an initial count of five injured, with the total still under review.

Zelenskyy posted on Telegram that Russia had specifically targeted media and journalists with a Shahed drone, launched from Iran, during the daylight attack. He emphasized that this incident marks a new low in Russian aggression, and immediate action is required from Europe and the world.
