The Minister of Education, Fadhlina Sidek, emphasized the enduring importance of teachers, especially when students face difficulties in mastering certain concepts. According to the Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) 2025 data, 91% of Malaysian students reported that teachers helped them with their learning, significantly surpassing the OECD average of 76%.

PISA 2025 findings indicate that Malaysian students feel constant guidance and support from teachers throughout the learning process. "This confirms that Malaysian students feel strong support from their teachers," Fadhlina stated at the PISA 2025 media briefing in the Ministry of Education. The data also reveals that 87% of students said teachers continue teaching until they fully understand a topic, compared to the OECD average of 66%.

Furthermore, 86% of students reported receiving additional assistance from teachers when needed, compared to the OECD average of 73%. Additionally, 83% of students felt they had an opportunity to express their opinions in class, compared to the OECD average of 70%, while 80% said teachers showed interest in their learning, compared to 69% in OECD countries.

Fadhlina added that PISA 2025 also showed Malaysia's education system operates at a positive level, with student performance not being largely determined by school differences. "This indicates opportunities for achieving success in education are not limited to specific schools," she stated. The main study of PISA 2025 was conducted from April 22 to May 30, 2025, involving 7,624 students aged 15 from 157 schools and educational institutions across the country, including private institutions.
