Indonesia has three airports resuming operations following the closure due to the ongoing eruptions of Anak Krakatau volcano. JAKARTA: Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, the main airport in Jakarta, has reopened at 12:30 pm local time, followed by Halim Perdanakusuma Airport in Jakarta at 12:40 pm and Husein Sastranegara Airport in Bandung at 12:42 pm.

The decision came after aviation and meteorological authorities assessed the aftermath of Anak Krakatau's eruption and confirmed it was safe to resume operations. The airport operator InJourney Airports urged all passengers to check their flight status and contact their airline for the latest information. The eruptions forced the temporary suspension of multiple airports, disrupting hundreds of flights and inconveniencing thousands of travelers over the weekend.

Anak Krakatau erupted three times on Tuesday morning, with the Indonesian authorities continuously monitoring the volcano's activity. The country's Volcanology and Disaster Risk Mitigation Centre (PVMBG) recorded eruptions at 5:08 am, 5:34 am, and 7:49 am local time. Anak Krakatau remains at Level III, the second highest alert in Indonesia's four-level volcanic alert system.

Meanwhile, two other volcanoes in Indonesia also erupted at Level III on Tuesday: Mount Ibu in North Maluku emitted three eruptions, while Ili Lewotolok in East Nusa Tenggara spewed ash up to 800 meters high. These three volcanoes are located in different regions of the archipelago, with Anak Krakatau situated in the Sunda Strait, west of Indonesia, Mount Ibu in North Maluku and Ili Lewotolok on the island of Lembata in East Nusa Tenggara.
