2027 guber: APC gone in Ogun, says former LG chair

Wale Adedayo, a former Chairman of Ijebu East Local Government Area in Ogun State, stated that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) is losing its grip on the state and will face defeat in the 2027 governorship election. This prediction comes from Adedayo, who served under the APC government of Governor Dapo Abiodun. Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today programme, Adedayo emphasized that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), led by Ladi Adebutu, is the predominant candidate to beat in the upcoming gubernatorial poll.

Adedayo highlighted that the upcoming election would result in significant changes, with the electorate moving in a direction they might not anticipate. He further explained that the APC's numerical strength and popularity among the people have been declining across the state's 20 local government areas. Adedayo noted that the PDP holds an advantage due to shifting loyalties within the political landscape, with major stakeholders across parties favoring the opposition party.

He also pointed out that the gubernatorial candidate from the PDP, Ladi Adebutu, would easily defeat the APC's candidate, Solomon Adeola. Adedayo explained that the Ijebus had previously supported the Yewas in the past, but now feel it is time for one of their own, Adebutu, to take the seat. He also emphasized the need for voters to be well-informed when making their choices, stating that democracy revolves around informed decision-making.
