2 faktor tentukan 17 kerusi baharu DUN Sarawak sempat guna pada PRN

The formation of 17 new Sarawak Legislative Assembly (DUN) seats and the relocation of constituency boundaries in the state will be decided by two key factors, according to Election Advisory Committee (SPR) member Mohd Faisal Syam Abdol Hazis. The exact timing of when these 17 new DUN seats will be utilized during the next general election (PRN) remains uncertain.

"Firstly, we need to finalize the reapportionment study before the 17 new seats can be confirmed. SPR has been given a two-year window to complete this process," Mohd Faisal explained. "Secondly, we do not know when the Sarawak DUN will be dissolved. We only know that it will automatically dissolve in February 2027." During the SPR's Influencer@Japen program on Facebook Sarawak earlier today, the committee member further clarified that the reapportionment study was expected to be completed within a two-year period following the initial notice on September 1, 2023.

This process involves multiple stages, including public consultations and revisions based on public feedback. After all objections have been addressed, a final report will be submitted to the Chief Minister.
