Zheng shocks Swiatek in another incredible US Open comeback

China's Zheng Qinwen stunned six-time Grand Slam champion Iga Swiatek 7-5, 6-3 in the US Open women's singles fourth round on Monday, reaching the quarter-finals. The victory marked Zheng's second straight comeback win, following her previous defeat of Madison Keys 7-5, 6-3. After trailing 5-0 in the opening set, Zheng quickly turned the momentum around, winning seven consecutive games.

Zheng, who had to qualify for the tournament, expressed her relief at reaching the quarter-finals, saying, "Honestly, I have to say I started the match not so well... I just really appreciate it to be here in the Ashe Stadium." She acknowledged the challenges of playing at the prestigious venue, stating that it had been a long time since she last competed there.

This win solidified Zheng's place as the first qualifier to advance past the fourth round at the US Open since Emma Raducanu's historic victory in 2021. Zheng will now face either world No 2 Elena Rybakina or two-time US Open champion Naomi Osaka in the next round.
