Yemen’s Houthis accuse Saudi Arabia of air raids, missile strikes

Yemen's Iran-backed Houthis have accused Saudi Arabia of conducting airstrikes and missile strikes across the country, including the bombing of a prison. The rebels claim the attacks targeted Houthi positions throughout the Arabian Peninsula, dividing it between areas held by the Iran-backed group and those controlled by the Saudi-backed government.

Saba news agency, affiliated with the Houthi movement, reported that seven people, including a child, were killed and seven wounded in the prison bombing in Al-Hazm, north Yemen. Footage showed smoke rising from the blast site in Jawf province as rescue workers retrieved victims. Earlier reports claimed Saudi Arabia targeted the provinces of Jawf, Al-Bayda, Marib, and Taiz with airstrikes and cruise missiles, causing over 300 deaths and displacing hundreds of families.

The UN's special envoy for Yemen warned that the Houthi assault would intensify clashes and make a political settlement more challenging. The rebels have also imposed a maritime blockade on Saudi Arabia and targeted its ships and territory.
