Weather alert: Fine in west with cloudy and cool conditions elsewhere

Tuesday, 8 September 2026, will bring fine weather conditions in the western regions of South Africa. Elsewhere, the weather is expected to be cloudy and cool to cold, with isolated to scattered showers and thunderstorms.

Gauteng residents can anticipate cloudy and cool weather, with isolated showers and rain possible. In Mpumalanga, morning fog patches may be observed along the escarpment, but conditions will generally be cloudy and cool to cold, with isolated showers and rain.

Residents of Limpopo will start the day with morning fog patches along the escarpment, transitioning to cloudy and cool weather with isolated showers and rain. The North West province will experience cloudy and cool weather, which may turn partly cloudy in the afternoon, accompanied by isolated showers and rain in the eastern areas.

The Free State will face morning fog patches in the extreme east, followed by cloudy to partly cloudy conditions with isolated showers and rain, except in the western areas. In the Northern Cape, the day will begin with morning fog along the coast, becoming partly cloudy, windy, and cool to warm, with fine and hot conditions in the western regions.

Western Cape residents can expect partly cloudy conditions over the northeastern parts of the province, with the rest of the region seeing fine and warm to hot weather. The UVB sunburn index for the region is predicted to be "very high," indicating a need for precautions against prolonged sun exposure.

In the eastern regions of the Eastern Cape, the day will be fine and warm. However, the eastern half of the Eastern Cape will start with morning fog, followed by fine and warm weather, but will be cool in the northern areas. KwaZulu-Natal residents can expect morning fog over the interior, with the weather generally being partly cloudy and cool to warm, with isolated showers and rain in the northern sections.
