Korea Baseball Organization (KBO) has named Kia Tigers' star player Kim Do-yeong as the top performer for August. The organization disclosed on Monday that Kim overtook seven other contenders for the Player of the Month distinction for the month of August. In the 15 games that Kim played during August, he shared the league's lead with six home runs while leading in fan voting.

Kim scored 16 runs and had a .714 slugging percentage during the month. Kim received 10 votes out of the total 35 cast by the media, which was the second-highest tally behind Doosan Bears' starting pitcher Gwak Been. However, Kim's performance was unparalleled among his competitors in fan voting, as he garnered 277,640 votes out of a total of 495,144 votes, and no one else received even 100,000 votes.

Kim's final voting score was 42.32 points, which is nearly 20 points higher than Gwak's 38,551 votes. Kim's performance over the season has been impressive too. He leads the KBO with 39 home runs, just one shy of becoming the first Korean player to hit 40 home runs in the past eight years. This is Kim's third career Player of the Month award, with two awarded in 2024.

Kim also won the MVP award that year. As a reward for his outstanding performance, Kim will receive 3 million won ($2,230) as prize money.
