UP To Launch Rural Road Repair Drive After Monsoon For Water Project Routes

After the monsoon, the Yogi Government in Uttar Pradesh is set to launch a significant road repair drive aimed at rural areas, in conjunction with its ongoing water project initiatives. Jal Shakti Minister Swatantra Dev Singh has directed officials to commence this campaign in October, with the aim of restoring roads that were damaged during the laying of pipelines for rural water supply projects.

These roads have been rendered impassable by the monsoon rains, causing considerable commuting difficulties for the rural population.

The minister reviewed various drinking water schemes through a video conference, highlighting the need for improved transportation alongside the provision of clean water. He stressed the importance of completing all preparations for the campaign on time, so that roads can be repaired swiftly, alleviating the plight of rural residents. The aim is to ensure the completion of drinking water projects in rural areas, while simultaneously enhancing the road infrastructure to facilitate smoother access.

During the meeting, the minister also emphasized the need for regular monitoring of drinking water projects and the water supply system. It was directed that all projects be completed within the stipulated timeframe, with additional manpower being allocated as necessary. Furthermore, officials were instructed to pay special attention to water management and to review the operation of drinking water projects and the water supply system.

The meeting also saw the involvement of various senior officials, including the Chief Engineers, Superintending Engineers, and Executive Engineers. They were tasked with preparing confidential reports on the work of subordinate engineers and concerned agencies, to be submitted to the Additional Chief Secretary. This move aims to strengthen the monitoring of project progress and the functioning of officials and executing agencies.
