UGreen is bringing local storage, computing, and smart-home control together with its new AI tech — I’ve seen it in action, and it could be a game changer

A new local storage, computing, and smart-home control technology from UGreen could be a game changer, according to its CEO Samuel Zhang. Zhang recounted a personal story of a disappointing family BBQ, where the family hadn't taken any photos to reminisce about the event. This inspired UGreen's new suite of AI technology for homes.

At the IFA 2026 in Berlin, I saw the company's HomeAgent, a single device that brings together storage, computing, and control for a range of AIoT devices, including cameras, smart speakers, and digital photo frames. The HomeAgent relies on local storage and computing, handling data locally rather than in a corporate cloud. This could be a major advantage for security-conscious customers and those concerned about costly cloud subscriptions.

There are three HomeAgent models, ranging in price from $1,799 to $19,999, with early bird offers making them roughly half-price. UGreen's smart home AIoT technology impressed me with its capabilities. I witnessed a smart security camera that alerted me when I passed a certain point, and a smart speaker named Uliya that could perform various tasks around the home, from reminding me of past events to identifying my pet's location and casting live video.

The ability to create an "Away mode" to automate house settings when I'm away was particularly useful. UGreen's HomeAgents seem capable and feature-rich, with local data handling that could transform the smart home experience for some households.
