Two-month-old baby among five injured in Ulu Bernam crash

A family of five, including a two-month-old baby, were injured in a two-car crash on the North-South Expressway near Ulu Bernam early on New Year's Day. Selangor Fire and Rescue Department assistant director Ashrul Riezal Asbar reported that the collision involved a Toyota Camry and a Mazda CX-5, occurring at KM440.5 of the highway heading towards Kuala Lumpur. The emergency call was received at 2:58 am, prompting eight firefighters from the Rawang Fire and Rescue Station to respond to the scene.

Ashrul explained that the Toyota Camry's 34-year-old male driver sustained serious injuries and required extrication by the firefighters. Initial assessments revealed three occupants in the Camry, but two individuals were believed to have abandoned the vehicle. The Mazda was transporting a family of five, comprising a 34-year-old man and a 34-year-old woman, both seriously injured, along with three children – an eight-year-old girl, a three-year-old boy, and a two-month-old baby girl, who all experienced minor injuries.

Firefighters swiftly worked to extricate the victims from the vehicles, successfully removing them by 4:20 am. The injured individuals were then handed over to medical personnel for further treatment.
