Two fires damage workshop, house and car in Penang

NIBONG TEBAL - Two separate fires struck a workshop and a house in Penang, causing damage but no injuries. The Penang Fire and Rescue Department received distress calls for both incidents.

The first fire occurred at the workshop in Parit Buntar last night, around 8:31pm. Firefighters from the Nibong Tebal fire station responded and managed to contain the blaze to about 30% of the premises. Two BMW cars were also damaged, with one car severely burnt and the other partially affected. The workshop owner and occupants were confirmed safe. The fire was extinguished by 8:49pm and wholly put out by 10:31pm.

Later that morning, at around 1:57am, a separate fire broke out in a single-storey house in Air Itam. The fire ravaged roughly 55% of the house, which measures about 1,500 sq ft. Fortunately, the occupant, a 48-year-old man, managed to evacuate before firefighters arrived. The fire was brought under control at 2:22am and fully extinguished by 3:57am. Both incidents have been referred to the Fire Investigation Team for further investigation.
