Toxic gets Rs 30 crore offer for OTT rights amid BO crash: ‘Yash expected Rs 200 cr’

Yash's gangster drama "Toxic" is nearing the end of its theatrical run, having suffered a significant failure at the box office. Despite a massive opening, the film crashed due to negative word-of-mouth. Now, the digital rights for "Toxic", directed by Geetu Mohandas, are reportedly facing a drastic reduction in valuation. Recent reports suggest that an OTT platform has made an offer of Rs 30 crore for the streaming rights, significantly lower than the pre-release proposal of Rs 150 crore.

The team behind "Toxic" expected a post-theatrical OTT valuation of over Rs 200 crore, but the current offer is as low as Rs 30 crore across all languages. With the film having a massive budget of Rs 500 crore, the makers are now contemplating a different version for OTT, possibly with a new edit, in hopes of fetching a higher price.

Discussions are underway to explore ways to reduce the losses, including a new cut for digital streaming.
