Sylvester Tetteh explains why he left Ningo Prampram for Ngleshi Amanfro

Sylvester Tetteh, the General Secretary hopeful for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has emphasized the necessity for the party to fortify its grassroots structures to secure a victory in the 2028 general elections. Mr. Tetteh, during an interview on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen, expressed his confidence in his campaign for the General Secretary position, which has garnered positive feedback across the nation.

He firmly believes that elections are determined at the grassroots level rather than at the party headquarters, asserting that the party must focus on establishing robust structures at the ground level to translate its presidential candidate's ambitions into electoral success.

Mr. Tetteh highlighted his extensive experience across various levels of the NPP, including roles as a polling station executive, constituency secretary, parliamentary candidate, TESCON president, and Member of Parliament. He stated that this diverse experience has equipped him with the necessary knowledge to lead the party as General Secretary.

He further mentioned the importance of geographical balance and strategic considerations when selecting national officers to augment the efforts of the party's flagbearer. Despite facing competition from three other candidates from the Ashanti Region, Mr. Tetteh believes that his candidacy provides the NPP with an opportunity to strategically include Greater Accra in its principal leadership positions.

The General Secretary hopeful also stressed the significance of effective communication and organizational skills for the General Secretary role, emphasizing that the office demands an individual capable of articulating the party's message and mobilizing supporters at all levels. Mr. Tetteh expressed his determination to rebuild the NPP’s structures in preparation for the 2028 elections, dismissing any intimidation from the competition.

He also criticized the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), arguing that its failure to deliver on promises makes the NPP well-positioned to reconnect with voters. Tetteh believes that the NPP must leverage its past governmental experience and effectively communicate its record to voters while simultaneously preparing its grassroots structures for the upcoming electoral contest.
