Storm team, mountain guides ready to assist in search for 6 missing hikers

KOTA BARU: The Kelantan Fire and Rescue Department is prepared to utilize its Special Tactical Operation and Rescue Malaysia (Storm) team and mountain guides in the search and rescue operation for six people potentially missing near Gua Musang, Malaysia, on August 29th. Kelantan's department head, Farhan Sufyan Borhan, stated that they are on standby and would deploy four Storm personnel, four Gua Musang Fire and Rescue Station staff, and six mountain guides from Gua Musang should the need arise.

He mentioned that the group may return towards Gua Musang, prompting the readiness of the rescue teams. The six people, including a family of four, were believed to have entered Perak on September 1st after initially entering a forested area in Gua Musang. Earlier reports indicated that a family of four and two mountain guides went missing after venturing into the forest via Pos Dakoh, Lojing, Gua Musang, on August 29th.

The police received a missing persons report from the group's relatives in Selangor after they failed to leave the forest by their scheduled date of September 3rd. The group had received permission to enter the forest and was expected to exit through Pos Kemar in Perak. Gua Musang police remained on standby, prepared to confirm if the group had entered Kelantan.
