Singapore man rapes daughter, then gives himself up after spotting her at neighbourhood police centre

A 15-year-old girl sought help at a nearby police centre after her father raped her while he showered. The man subsequently passed the station, observed her inside, returned home to change clothes, and subsequently turned himself in to authorities. The victim had suffered years of physical abuse, believing it to be normal due to her father's behavior.

The 51-year-old admitted guilt to rape, outrage of modesty, and criminal breach of trust, with additional charges of criminal breach of trust and voyeurism being considered at sentencing on November 2. Police discovered he had taken obscene photos of the girl between 2021 and 2023, as well as embezzled S$23,000 from his employer while serving as general manager.

These misdeeds were only uncovered after his arrest on August 11, 2024, when the sexual offenses were investigated. The defendant had a history of cheating, criminal breach of trust, and moneylending offenses, including a five-year corrective training term in 2009. The court heard that on August 10, 2024, he became furious over the household's cleanliness, threw items from the dining table, ordered the girl to her room, and dismantled CCTV cameras before going to bed.

The next day, he lifted her blanket when she didn't respond, sexually assaulted her, and raped her while she remained still out of fear. She only managed to escape when he entered the shower. The prosecution requested a sentence between 13 years and eight months and 14 years and nine months, plus 18 to 24 weeks of caning, which he cannot receive due to his age. The defense lawyer sought 13 years and five months.
