Siasatan roller coaster Sunway Lagoon mungkin ambil masa 3-4 bulan

Ten individuals were injured after the roller coaster failed to launch at Sunway Lagoon on August 22. The investigation into the incident, which injured 10 visitors, is expected to take at least three to four months, said Selangor Police Chief Shazeli Kahar. This duration is necessary as the inquiry involves technical aspects and requires cooperation from several related agencies.

The police are working alongside the Occupational Safety and Health Department (JKKP), the Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM), forensic teams, and other agencies to complete the investigation. Police have taken statements from the operators of the ride, as well as the injured and uninjured visitors, plus medical staff. During the incident around 9 PM on August 22, the roller coaster carried 22 visitors, aged between 11 and 44 years, both Malaysian citizens and foreign tourists.

Ten of them suffered injuries. Initial Selangor JKKP investigation found the ride failed to launch about 200 meters from the launch area before the emergency brake system activated automatically, stopping the ride. The police earlier stated the investigation was being conducted to determine if there was a defect or sabotage involved, with technical data from relevant agencies to be compared to determine the cause of the incident.

All visitors have been treated and released from the hospital, while the roller coaster remains closed as the investigation continues.
