Second Autonomous e-Mobility forum kicks off in Doha

The second Autonomous e-Mobility Forum commenced in Doha on Monday at the Qatar National Convention Centre, led by the Ministry of Transport and organized by Just us & Otto.

Minister of Transport Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Maadheed emphasized during his opening address that transportation has transitioned from a supporting sector to a pivotal pillar of national development and economic competitiveness. He highlighted the critical role of electric mobility and automated driving systems (ADS) in shaping the future of transportation, stressing the need for a comprehensive approach to tackle challenges like energy, digital infrastructure, regulations, and safety.

He noted Qatar's robust infrastructure, including modern road networks, subway fleets, ports, airports, and logistics hubs, developed under the nation's visionary leadership. Al Maadheed explained that the current focus within the Third National Development Strategy is shifting from infrastructure creation to optimizing utilization via transportation electrification, digital advancements, and Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS).

The forum aims to facilitate the sharing of knowledge and establish strategic partnerships that will help define the future of transportation. It is seen as an essential platform for turning innovation into practical, safe solutions for society.

Eng. Ahmad Ali Al Ansari, Chairman of the AEMOB Forum Executive Committee, pointed out that the sector's evolution since the advent of the internal combustion engine is more profound than ever before. He stressed that electric vehicles and automated driving systems are no longer mere visions of the future but are rapidly becoming everyday realities, driven by the urgent need to protect communities, reduce carbon emissions, and enhance road safety through alternative energy sources and reduced fossil fuel dependence.

The forum will convene over 40 regional and international speakers from diverse fields, including government, industry, academia, technology, and research, to discuss key transportation challenges and solutions. With more than 50 keynote speeches and panel discussions across ten professional tracks, the event offers a comprehensive program spanning all aspects of electric and automated mobility, from technology and policy to research and real-world applications.
