Prabowo Urges Calm, Prays for Public Safety as Anak Krakatau Erupts

President Prabowo Subianto has called for the Indonesian public to remain calm and vigilant amid ongoing volcanic activity at Mount Anak Krakatau, particularly in Jakarta, Banten, Lampung and areas surrounding the Sunda Strait. In an Instagram post, Prabowo urged residents to heed government and authority instructions, avoid the volcano and stay within designated safety zones. He prayed for the safety and well-being of all Indonesians affected by the disaster.

The National Disaster Management Agency, Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysical Agency, Indonesian Military, National Police, local governments and relevant ministries have been tasked with closely monitoring the volcano's activity. The government has also ensured emergency preparedness measures are in place to protect affected residents.

Prabowo stressed the importance of wearing masks or other respiratory protection for those impacted by volcanic ash, while limiting outdoor activities when ash concentrations are heavy. He also encouraged Indonesians to pray for the safety of those living near Mount Anak Krakatau and the Sunda Strait, as well as communities facing other disasters across the country.
