Police arrest 27-year-old suspect, recover two stolen motorcycles in Jigawa

The Jigawa State Police Command apprehended a 27-year-old man, suspected of motorcycle theft, and retrieved two stolen motorcycles in two separate operations in Dutse Local Government Area of the state. This information was released in a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Lawan Shiisu Adam, on Monday, September 7, 2026.

The first incident arose from a report of a stolen motorcycle from a resident's residence in Burtalan Quarters, Dutse. The police utilized a tracking mechanism attached to the motorcycle, which provided its precise location, leading them to a house in Unguwar Tsika, Shuwarin Town. The motorcycle was seized, and Najib Adamu, 27, of Dutse Local Government Area, was apprehended in connection with the theft.

In the second operation, the police, collaborating with vigilant community members, recovered another stolen motorcycle at Narewa Village. The motorcycle was allegedly taken from the residence of a complainant in Kudai Village, also in Dutse Local Government Area. The suspects deserted the motorcycle upon spotting the police and vigilantes, who had received intelligence about their location. The motorcycle was then taken into police custody, and efforts are underway to locate and apprehend the fleeing suspects.

The Commissioner of Police, Jigawa State Command, CP Tijjani Murtala, lauded the police officers and members of the vigilante groups for their professionalism, determination, and cooperation during the recovery operations.
