‘Pasoori’ Becomes First Pakistani Music Video to Cross 1 Billion YouTube Views

Ali Sethi and Shae Gill's chart-topping song "Pasoori" has broken a historic record by becoming the first Pakistani music video to reach 1 billion views on YouTube. Coke Studio celebrated the monumental milestone on Sunday, expressing gratitude to fans globally for their support in making the song a worldwide sensation. Released on February 7, 2022, "Pasoori" achieved this impressive feat in under four and a half years, solidifying its status as one of the most successful Pakistani songs of recent times.

The track quickly gained global popularity, topping streaming charts and capturing audiences far beyond Pakistan. It became Spotify's most-streamed Pakistani song in 2022 and remains the top choice for both Sethi and Gill, with an astounding 405 million streams combined. To commemorate the achievement, Coke Studio released a video showcasing Sethi, Gill, and producers Zulfiqar Khan, also known as Xulfi, and Abdullah Siddiqui.

The song's international success has resulted in numerous covers and performances, with its presence in the soundtrack of Disney's Ms. Marvel further highlighting its cultural significance. Coke Studio Africa later released a remix featuring Sethi alongside Nigerian artists Marwan Moussa and Reekado Banks, blending the hit with Afrobeats.

"Pasoori" also garnered attention in India after Bollywood singer Arijit Singh released his own rendition, sparking discussions among fans over the adaptation of the beloved Pakistani song.
