Osun election: Tribunal displays APC, PDP petitions challenging Gov Adeleke’s reelection

The Osun State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal has unveiled petitions filed by both the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) contesting Governor Ademola Adeleke's reelection. These legal challenges were formally lodged on Monday, officially igniting the judicial proceedings stemming from the gubernatorial election held on August 15.

Pefe Belemore, the tribunal secretary, confirmed the filing of the petitions, stating that the requisite notices would be posted on the tribunal's notice board before noon on the same day.

During the tribunal's inauguration, Belemore was present in the courtroom alongside other tribunal officials as preparations commenced for the proceedings. The APC and PDP are contesting the election results, which confirmed Adeleke as governor for another term. The display of these petitions is anticipated to facilitate the issuance of legal processes against the involved parties and subsequent legal proceedings before the tribunal.

The APC's petition, identified as EPT/OS/GOV/01/2026, was filed by its gubernatorial candidate Bola Oyebamiji. The petition lists Adeleke, the Accord, and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as respondents, challenging the election outcome. Similarly, the PDP's petition, designated as EPT/OS/GOV/02/2026, was submitted by Adebayo Olugbenga Adedamola. Adedamola's petition challenges Adeleke, INEC, and the Accord, contesting the election results.
