Nigeria Requires Leaders Devoted to Public Good, Not Personal Interests, Says Tinubu

President Bola Tinubu emphasized the need for patriotic leaders in Nigeria, whose dedication to national progress supersedes personal interests and self-promotion. At a thanksgiving service commemorating the 70th birthday of former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Dr. Boss Mustapha, Tinubu called for citizens and public officials to prioritize public good.

Represented by the current SGF, Senator George Akume, Tinubu emphasized that Nigeria requires individuals committed to the greater good, rather than self-aggrandizement. Stating that the occasion is a celebration of faithfulness and the sustaining role of God, Tinubu highlighted Mustapha's unwavering commitment. Plateau State Governor, Caleb Muftwang, praised Mustapha as an exemplar of public service integrity and commended his investment in education over personal comfort.

Mustapha encouraged Nigeria's youth to overcome humble origins and strive for greatness, using their backgrounds as foundations for success. The former SGF recounted his own journey, proving that success is attainable regardless of one's upbringing. He urged the youth to remain steadfast, asserting that his life serves as a template for the younger generation.

Archbishop Musa Panti Filibus of the Lutheran Church of Christ in Nigeria honored Mustapha by naming the library complex the 'Wesley Mustapha Library Complex' in tribute to Mustapha's late father, a devoted teacher. The Archbishop expressed gratitude for Mustapha's contribution to regional tertiary education, while Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa State hailed the library complex as a monument to knowledge that will benefit scholars for generations.
