New York Jets: Questions, Questions Everywhere

As the New York Jets prepare to start a new season, questions loom over nearly every aspect of the organization. Head coach Aaron Glenn faced a difficult 2025 campaign, culminating in the trading of two defensive stars in Quinnen Williams and Sauce Gardner. This move left the defense vulnerable and ultimately contributed to the Jets' worst season in recent years. Glenn has since revamped the coaching staff, but it remains to be seen if his new team will be more competent than last year's.

At the quarterback position, the Jets have acquired veteran Geno Smith from the Seattle Seahawks and a rookie in Cade Klubnik. Smith had a rocky time with the Raiders in 2025, posting a 2-13 record and leading the league in sacks and interceptions. The Jets will provide Smith with a stronger offensive line and better weapons compared to his previous team, so his performance this season is likely to improve.

However, Smith's age and declining performance metrics suggest a ceiling of around a league-average starting quarterback, leaving open the question of what his floor might be.

The offensive line, although not without its concerns, appears to be in better shape this year. Veteran center Josh Myers and rookie guard Dylan Parham face a rebuild, while guard Joe Tippman and tackles Armand Membou and Olu Fashanu show promise. The offensive line's depth may be lacking, but it is a common issue across the league.
