Ndindi Nyoro to Gachagua: Stop sending people to insult me; face me

Ndindi Nyoro, a Member of Parliament representing Kiharu, has issued a stern warning to former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua. At a meeting of the People's Party on Monday, September 7, 2026, Nyoro urged Gachagua to confront him directly instead of sending his supporters to attack him.

Recalling their joint opposition to Ruto in 2022 and Nyoro's support for Gachagua in his bid to become Deputy President, Nyoro expressed surprise at Gachagua's ongoing attacks. He pointed out that Gachagua has been directing his criticism towards Nyoro, seemingly mistaking their past cooperation for weakness or fear.

Nyoro also criticized Gachagua's indirect attacks on his own party, the People's Party, instead of addressing the issue directly. He challenged Gachagua to name the party explicitly instead of "beat around the bush".

Nyoro further clarified that he had not taken part in Gachagua's impeachment proceedings in 2024, despite their strained relationship at the time. He dismissed allegations that he had been given KSh200 million to undermine Gachagua's Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) in the Mt Kenya region, stating that if Gachagua needed such funds, he should seek them directly from President William Ruto.

The situation has escalated with the DCP accusing Nyoro's party of being a creation of the state to undermine the opposition, while Gachagua's allies have intensified their criticism of Nyoro and the People's Party, describing it as a "green wheelbarrow" and an appendage of the United Democratic Alliance (UDA).
