Nazca Capital ficha a Carme Artigas como nueva socia para crecer en tecnología

Spanish start-up fund Nazca Capital has secured the services of Carme Artigas, former Secretary of State for Digitalization and AI, as their latest operating partner to fuel growth in deep tech technology. In addition to her new role, Artigas will chair the company's new technology committee and join their industrial advisory board.

Artigas will collaborate with Nazca Capital's investment team in originating, analyzing and tracking early-stage deep tech projects using disruptive models. The new technology committee will be responsible for rigorously evaluating the technological feasibility of each opportunity and assisting partners in accelerating their technological transformation and development. Artigas will also bring in other top-tier talent to the committee.

Her expertise in technology investment dates back to the inception of her career, where she served as CEO of Ericsson Innova, the first European venture fund of Ericsson, from 1999 to 2003. She later co-founded and served as co-director of Synergic Partners, a pioneering big data company in Europe acquired by Telefónica in 2015, where she continued to hold executive positions until its full integration into the group.

Artigas holds a superior chemical engineering degree from the Instituto Químico de Sarriá and an executive venture capital formation from the Haas School of Business at the University of California, Berkeley.

In January 2020, Artigas was appointed as the first Secretary of State for Digitalization and AI, a position she held until December 2023. During her tenure, she drafted the StartUp Law, created the Next Tech Fund, and led the negotiation and approval of the European AI Regulation. She also served as co-president of the UN AI Advisory Council and was the first female Spanish member of the Harvard Kennedy School's Belfer Center since October 2023.
