Multiple Kentucky volleyball players get SEC awards

The Kentucky volleyball team had a standout week, claiming victories over both UCLA and Penn State. Both opponents are considered formidable, with Penn State holding a rank within the top 15. The Wildcats' impressive performance did not go unnoticed by the Southeastern Conference (SEC) media. On Monday, it was disclosed that several Kentucky players were rewarded for their outstanding efforts.

Molly Tuozzo emerged as the Player of the Week, reflecting her pivotal role as the heart of the team. Although she might not garner attention for flashy kills or spectacular blocks, Tuozzo's dedication is evident in her remarkable defensive play. During the two matches, she recorded an impressive 35 digs, effectively neutralizing opponents' attacks. Her exceptional contribution also earned her the Defensive Player of the Week award in the SEC, marking her first Player of the Week recognition.

Other Kentucky players also received accolades for their contributions. Brooklyn DeLeye led the offensive charge, delivering 21 kills against Penn State while maintaining a hit percentage exceeding .300. Consequently, she was honored as the SEC Offensive Player of the Week. Meanwhile, Kassie O'Brien, who initially struggled, delivered stellar support as the team's setter.

She contributed over 40 assists in both matches, directly impacting Brooklyn DeLeye's success. For her tireless efforts, O'Brien was named the Setter of the Week.
