MOT Undersecretary inaugurates 2nd edition of Autonomous e-Mobility Forum

Doha, Qatar witnessed the inauguration of the second edition of the Autonomous e-Mobility Forum (AEMOB) from September 7-9 at the Qatar National Convention Centre (QNCC). The event, hosted and supported by the Ministry of Transport (MOT), saw the attendance of key officials including the MOT Undersecretary HE Mohammed Abdullah Al-Maadeed and Undersecretaries from the Ministry of Municipality and the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change.

HE Al-Maadeed, in his opening remarks, emphasized the transportation industry's pivotal role in development, transitioning from a mere service industry to a strategic one driving economic competitiveness and quality of life. He highlighted the critical importance of transitioning to electric mobility and autonomous driving systems, despite the challenges this brings in areas like energy requirements, digital infrastructure, safety, regulatory frameworks, and technology localization.

Addressing these challenges, HE Al-Maadeed stressed the need for a comprehensive and coordinated approach involving governments, private sectors, and research institutions. Qatar, guided by its visionary leadership, has been investing in modern infrastructure, including advanced road networks, metro systems, public transit fleets, integrated ports, airports, and logistics zones, aligning with the Qatar Third National Development Strategy.

The two-day forum featured over 50 keynote sessions and panel discussions on 10 mobility and industry tracks, exploring topics such as technology, policy, regulation, sustainability, infrastructure, research, public adoption, and real-world implementation. Alongside the professional program, the forum also included a strong community program with activities like the SME Competition, Startup Showcase, and 3-Minute Thesis Challenge, providing platforms for entrepreneurs, startups, students, and innovators to contribute to the future of the mobility sector.
