Microsoft (MSFT)’s Outlook and OpenAI’s ChatGPT Work Both Broke the Same Day

OpenAI confirmed full recovery by the evening. Microsoft's recent quarterly results, with record revenue of $90.01 billion and Azure surpassing $100 billion in annual revenue, indicate that one service disruption does not define the company's larger cloud and software business. Despite the outage, Microsoft's enterprise demand remains robust, with commercial remaining performance obligations increasing 84% year-over-year to $678 billion.

Additionally, Microsoft 365 Copilot surpassed 30 million paid seats, and net seat additions more than doubled sequentially. Although the OpenAI outage does not pose a direct threat to Microsoft's AI opportunities, it highlights the company's reliance on reliable cloud services.
