US President Donald Trump posted the preliminary election results on social media on Sunday without comment, with major American media outlets like the "Wall Street Journal" prominently displaying them on their websites. The "New York Times" reported on the election with a live blog, quoting some US journalists who drew parallels to the Third Reich and suggested that "for the first time since Nazi Germany, extreme right-wing could govern a part of the country".

Several American right-wing influencers and websites celebrated the AfD's victory, with "Breitbart" stating, "The AfD wins a historic victory in state election" and right-wing influencer Benny Johnson on X writing, "The AfD just achieved an overwhelming victory in Eastern Germany. They took everything with one message: Get out of here. Close the border. Cut social benefits". Johnson added, "Europe wakes up."
