Lagos: Mob beats man to death days before wedding

In the Lagos Island area of Lagos State, Nigeria, a man named Basit was brutally beaten to death by a mob days before his wedding. Basit had returned from abroad and was reportedly on his way to the Patey area when he allegedly hit a man attempting to cross the road. Instead of stopping, Basit allegedly drove away, prompting the community to chase him.

Eventually, the mob caught up to him and began assaulting him with dangerous objects, causing him to lose consciousness. He died from his injuries just two weeks prior to his wedding. A police source confirmed that arrests have been made in connection with the incident, but Abimbola Adebisi, the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, could not be reached for comment.
