Kuantan cops nab daycare centre worker after video shows toddler being shaken, hair pulled

KUANTAN, Sept 7 — Kuantan police have arrested a 31-year-old woman in connection with the alleged mistreatment of a two-year-and-eight-month-old boy at a daycare centre. The incident, captured on a viral video, showed the toddler being scolded, having his hair pulled, and head shaken. Kuantan police chief ACP Ashari Abu Samah revealed that the department received a report about the video on social media at 10.34am yesterday.

Preliminary investigations suggest the incident took place on Aug 11. The child was taken to Tengku Ampuan Afzan Hospital for examination, but no serious injuries were reported. Police plan to file a remand application for the suspect, who will be investigated under Section 31(1)(a) of the Child Act 2001. The public is advised to refrain from speculating or sharing any information that could jeopardize the investigation or reveal the victim's identity.
