Jual dadah dalam talian, SKMM diarah bincang dengan platform e-dagang

Malaysian Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil has instructed the Communications and Multimedia Commission (SKMM) to meet with an e-commerce platform suspected of facilitating drug sales, particularly of substances like fentanyl. The minister stated that this directive was issued as a response to Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim's concerns about the increasing concerns surrounding such activities.

The SKMM chairperson and their team are now expected to act fairly but firmly, according to Fahmi, as reported by Harian Metro during the opening session of the Strategic Community District Development and National Information Distribution Center Joint Workshop in Cyberjaya. Fahmi emphasized the importance of expanding internet access, but also stressed the need for safety measures and responsible use of communication networks.

This is due to the potential misuse of e-commerce platforms for drug trafficking, which can negatively impact youth and cause problems in urban areas. Besides drug sales, Fahmi mentioned that other forms of online misuse, including online scams, could also occur if users' digital safety and literacy levels are not improved.
