Israeli strikes on southern Lebanese town kill 11, state news agency says

On Monday morning, Israeli airstrikes on a Lebanese town resulted in the deaths of at least 11 people, including two children and two medical professionals, according to Lebanon's state news agency. This attack occurred on the same day that seven others were killed in Israeli strikes, according to the Lebanese National News Agency.

The confrontation took place in Kfar Rumman, a residential area in southern Lebanon, where Israeli warplanes targeted a building, killing nine people and wounding five others. A separate drone strike targeting a civilian vehicle resulted in the deaths of two medical personnel.

This came without any evacuation notice from the Israeli military, despite the absence of any warning to residents. The Israeli military did not provide immediate comment to Reuters regarding the strikes, including specifics about the presence of children and medics at the strike sites and the rationale behind the lack of an evacuation warning.

An Israeli military spokesperson released a separate evacuation warning just after 2:00 a.m. local time on Sunday for areas around a building in another southern Lebanese town where they intended to attack Hezbollah facilities. Since the onset of the conflict, Israeli strikes on Lebanon have resulted in over 4,300 casualties. The ceasefire, which was supposed to end hostilities between the Israeli military and Lebanese group Hezbollah, has seen a dramatic decrease in violence, but Israeli forces occupying parts of southern Lebanon have continued to destroy villages within the self-proclaimed security zone.

Israeli military activity has persisted both within the zone and to the north, often without issuing evacuation warnings.
