Israel carries out fresh strikes on Lebanon, killing 12

Israeli air strikes in southern Lebanon have resulted in the deaths of at least 12 individuals, with 11 fatalities occurring when a three-story residential building collapsed in the village of Kfar Roummane. Among the victims were two children, four women, and 11 others who were injured during the building's destruction. A separate drone strike targeted a vehicle carrying paramedics, killing one rescue worker and injuring two more, raising the overall wounded count to 13.

Lebanese health officials have stated that these casualties represent clear evidence of Israeli violations of international humanitarian law, particularly the targeting of medical personnel and children. The Israeli Defense Forces claim the strikes targeted Hezbollah-related infrastructure and weapon transport operatives, though they are reviewing reports of civilian casualties.

Residents of Kfar Roummane expressed fear and confusion, with some questioning the legitimacy of the targets despite remaining in the area. The escalation has raised concerns about the June framework deal aimed at resolving the conflict, with Lebanese President Joseph Aoun calling for an end to the offensive and Hezbollah rejecting provisions that link Israeli withdrawal to the group's disarmament.

The situation has resulted in a deteriorating truce, with political disagreements intensifying and the prospect of a broader regional conflict looming.
